So, you want to market a book… have you asked yourself these questions yet?
- How will you market your book? What’s your marketing plan?
- Who is the target audience for your book? Where can you find them (offline and online)
- Have you done a competitive analysis of books similar to yours?
- Do you want to self-publish or try to find an agent and traditional publisher?
- If you self-publish, who will edit your book, design the cover, produce the book, and who will distribute the book?
- Will you publish paperback, hardcover, e-book, and/or audio books?
That’s only the beginning. Publishing is a highly competitive business. It’s estimated there are more than 350,000 books published each year. For yours to stand out, you need direction – from how/where you will publish to how/where you will promote your book.
Marketing your book can be overwhelming. Having a solid marketing plan can give you direction, keep you on track, and ensure you get around to promoting your book.
